Do instances work differently in mods?

I was using a rotating Portalgun pedestal instance in a map and each time a moved the map to a mod, it kept on breaking putting the gun in a weird position.

My immediate answer without testing is: they should work.

Collapse the instance and see if it is a problem elsewhere?

second suggestion is to keep the instance angles at 0,0,0
